The Centre at Jannali
Coffee Shop
Where the cuppas are cheap and the smiles
are free.
Tucked away in Bates Arcade, the centre, featuring a cafe is possibly
Jannali's best kept secret. If not the Shire's.
It's been described as a handy haven casual drop-in centre for nearby
residents, local workers, shoppers, busy mums or people on the move to and from
the station.
The centre has an interesting history.....Originally a 1960's disco, complete
with psychedelic paint, lights and noisy music. Today it's a quite oasis where you
can sample a wide range of snacks and sandwiches and enjoy a cuppa at what has to be
Sydney's best prices.
On your way there, take some time out to look at the mural on the TAB wall,
painted in 1961 by Cliff 'Sandy' Bryan, it is an interpretation of how Jannali
received its name. In the local aboriginal language Jannali meant "Place of the
Moon".
The centre also has a wide selection of greeting cards for all occasions,
including birthday and Christmas - again at prices so low, they have to be seen to be
believed.
Open during business hours, Monday to Friday, 9 to 5 and Saturday, 9.30 to
11.30, the cafe can be found in Bates Arcade, opposite the TAB. |

Alpha - the meaning of life in a few short weeks
 |
If two heads are better than one, imagine how much more
effective a whole group of heads could be!
But that's how much brainpower you need to harness if you're attempting to answer
the BIG questions of life.
Questions such as 'What is the point of living?', 'What happens when I die?'
and 'How do we deal with guilt?'
The 'Alpha Course' is a getting together of everyday people, one day a
week for ten or so weeks, in the informal atmosphere of 'The Centre at Jannali'.
Each week, following a meal, there's a prepared talk that looks at topics,
ranging from Healing, Guidance & Direction, followed by a discussion where all
participants can ask questions and have a say. After running many successful Alpha
Courses we can guarentee that Alpha is also great fun, and an opportunity to
really get to know people.
And if you're new to all this 'big question' stuff, or feel as if you've
never had a forum where you could ask questions without feeling threatened, then
Alpha is for you.

Each meeting is full of useful information designed to separate the fact

can achieve far more than ever could alone.
